Are you holidaying or planning a holiday in the Tatras? The weather is not to your liking? Never mind. The High Tatras region has a lot to offer even in case of bad weather. There are several possibilities. There are various leisure activities and attractions on offer, through which you can spend your free time in the High Tatras in an interesting way. We have selected for you tips for attractions suitable for families with children, but some of them will certainly also attract older or younger years. Get to know the High Tatras with us from this other side – from the point of view of interesting indoor attractions.

Tricklandia, Starý Smokovec

Tricklandia is a trick-art gallery (art, which creates visal llusions). In its premises, the themes of Slovak folk tales and legends, as well as the culture of villages and castles in Slovakia, are presented using optical tricks. There are 24 attractions, including trick-art paintings that create a feeling as if they were real, even though, they are just 2D drawings. Tricklandia also includes anti-gravity rooms and a mirror maze.

Good Toy Gallery, Tatranská Lomnica

The Good Toy Gallery presents various activities for children on an area of 500 m2. Children can playfully try out different professions (cosmonaut, doctor, fashion designer, archaeologist and others) or interesting games. The space is adapted in such a way that they feel as if they are right on the farm or in a factory, etc. The main idea of the whole gallery is to play with the mind, the selection of toys is adapted to this.

Pedal Planet, Nová Polianka (High Tatras)

Pedal Planet belongs to one of the largest private collections of pedal cars in Europe. Unique pedal cars are divided by country of origin and individual manufacturers. A separate section is the luxury Rolls Royce brand. A large part of the exhibition consists of Formula 1 cars and iconic models of Jaguar, Porsche, Mercedes. Earlier born will also find retro models. In addition to the exhibition section, the Tatra Gallery also offers an experience section, where cars are ready to be photographed, a collection of military and police cars is ready for visitors, and there is even a working carousel. A separate section features rockets and planes under an animated starry sky.

TANAP Museum, Tatranská Lomnica

The TANAPU Museum has an exhibition section divided into natural history, nature conservation, history and ethnography. You can learn about the nature of the Tatra nature, its protection and history.

It is open daily, in the current period May – September from 8.30 to 17.00. Admission is 3€ for adults, children up to 6 years free. The museum also has a screening room with a capacity of 72 seats, in which films are shown. Ski museum,Tatranská Lomnica

If you want to learn about how skiing, sledding, bobsledding used to be in the Tatras, go to this interesting museum. On an area of 300 m2 the history of the origin and development of Tatra sports from the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century is presented. Visitors will find 19 educational boards, divided thematically according to the individual sports, which are supplemented by exhibits and period photographs.
